| Abstract: | "Foregrounding" is the essential quality of all literary language. As an important concept in stylistics, "foregrounding" plays a key role in stylistic analysis.Foregrounded features can provide the clue to a better understanding of literary works. Though "foregrounding" can be found in all literary works, it takes different forms,and plays different roles in different works. This paper is, first of all, a discussion on the relationship between foregrounding and novel, and then an inquiry into the foregrounded features in two types of novels: Modernism and Realism. |
