基于语料库分析英语专业本科论文摘要中的模糊限制语

摘    要:本研究以两个自建的语料库为基础,对比分析了本族语者和英语本科学生在论文摘要写作中模糊限制语的使用情况.研究结果表明:我国英语本科学生选择模糊限制语较为单一,喜欢运用肯定、命令的模糊限制语,而本族语者善于运用表推测、可能的缓和型模糊限制语来表达客观、准确的观点,这与学生不重视论文写作语言的规范得体以及母语的负迁移有关.因此,论文指导中,应让学生了解模糊限制语的语用功能,提高摘要语言的规范性和可读性.

Abstract:Based on the two established corpora,this paper makes an empirical comparison of hedges between the abstracts of 30 Chinese English majors’ graduation theses and those of native speakers.Results show that Chinese students prefer to adopt smaller amounts of hedges that express certainty,whereas native speakers of English tend to use hedges of modality and attribution to present precise and objective ideas.This indicates that Chinese students fail to understand the appropriateness of abstract writing due to mother tongue transfer.Thus during the thesis supervision,the hedges might be introduced to students with the aim of improving the readability and appropriateness of thesis abstracts.
