| 摘 要： | 应用了大量实例,结合特定的英语语境深入分析英语委婉语的五种语用功能,即：避讳功能、礼貌功能、褒扬功能、掩饰功能和讽刺功能。英语委婉语用婉转含蓄的表达美化了语言,使人们的社交生活更为和谐。只有认知委婉语在不同背景、不同环境下的使用方式,才能够调整好礼貌程度,从而把给对方的伤害降到最低限度,达到成功交际的目的。

| Abstract: | From pragmatic point of view,this paper analyzes pragmatic functions of English euphemism by listing large amount of examples.They are evasive function,polite function,cosmetic function,uplifting function,satirical function.English euphemism beautifies language with mild and implicit expressions.In different surroundings it should be used in different ways.It is also approved in this paper that the accurate application of English euphemism helps to transmit information smoothly and contributes to people＇s daily communication. |
