| 摘 要： | 语言是文化的载体,而词汇是语言中最活跃的成分。英汉语言中表示各种不同植物的词语都很丰富。我们不但要注意观察它们本身的基本意义,更要留心它们含义广深的联想意义,由于英汉民族的文化背景及传统习俗等不同,由植物词所引起的联想意义往往也很不一致。文章试图从中西文化对比的角度,对英汉语言中植物词的文化内涵作一些对比并揭示其中的社会文化心理以及它们对跨文化交际的影响。

| Abstract: | Language is the vehicle of culture, and vocabulary is the most active part of a language. Both Chinese and English are rich in the words denoting different plants. Associative meanings of these words, however, arouse more interest than their lexicall meanings due to the discrepancy between the two languages deriving from the differences of the speakers' cultural backgrounds, social customs, and aesthetic interests. Employing contrastive analysis on the two cultures where in the two languages are nourished, this paper has made a series of contrasts between and explorations on the connotation in the two languages, and reveals the relevant social and cultural psychology and its influences on the crosscultural communication. |
