| 摘 要： | 辛克莱·刘易斯是美国现代文学史上一位里程碑式的作家,小说《大街》是他的成名作,本文试图从作者在作品中对美国二十世纪二十年代一些社会弊病的剖析与抨击以及对主人公卡萝尔的形象刻画两方面来分析这部作品中的反叛精神。

On Rebellious Spirits in Sinclair Lewis's Main Street |

| Abstract: | Sinclair Lewis(1885-1951), one of the greatest writers in American literature, won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1930, the first given to American. Lewis's achievements lie mainly on the five satiric novels that he produced in the 1920s. Main Street (1920) is the most famous one of them. It is critical and realistic appraisals of American life, more specifically mid-western America. The thesis tries to explore the rebellious spirits in the novel by attack on the convention in the 1920s and survey of the process of Carol's rebellion. |
