| Abstract: | Complex Adaptive System as proposed by Holland in 1994,is a new system theory which has been applied in many social and humanities disciplines.It could provide a new theoretical framework for language researchers.The paper discusses its successful application into individual differences study,foreign language writing study and second language acquisition methodology.Individual difference is a product of interaction of language,agents and environment,which makes it a dynamic and process-oriented phenomenon.The theory also can be used to guide and explain complex process of foreign language writing.Metaphorical thinking and agent-based modeling are encouraged. |
