| Abstract: | Rhetorical questions,flexible as it were,boast a high frequency of usage in Northeastern Mandarin,the dialect of Mandarin Chinese spoken in northeastern China.This paper comprehensively reviews the structural types of rhetorical questions in Northeastern Mandarin and investigates into the characteristics of each structure in comparison to similar uses of rhetorical questions in Modern Standard Mandarin,so as to reveal the unique flavor of rhetorical questions in Northeastern Mandarin. |
