| Abstract: | The divergent thinking training has been encouraged unilaterally in the current curriculum setup of general education.The convergent thinking training has been restrained while divergent thinking training is over cultivated.However,convergent thinking is an important form of innovative thinking and plays an indispensable role in general education.Therefore,the cultivation of these two kinds of thinking is equally important in general education.The two kinds of thinking seem contradictory but they are actually complementary."Essential Tension" should be emphasized to ensure the healthy development general education.In order to achieve this point,the general education should be revised.The main course should serve as the guiding principle,academic system should be established,the number of introduction courses should be reduced,classics reading periods should be increased;teaching should be realized in small classes and examination should be strict. |
