双重代码理论在英语阅读教学中的应用

摘    要:阅读教学在英语听、说、读、写四项技能训练中占有重要的地位.双重代码理论认为,我们在阅读的时候使用语言和非语言两套表现系统.通过实验证明,意象能有效提高英语阅读理解能力,并对英语阅读教学有一定的启示.

Abstract:Reading, as a main way of input for language learning, plays an important part in all the four skills of listening, speaking, read- ing and writing. The paper is based on a new cognitive theory-Dual Coding Theory, which hypothesizes the use of two representational systems one verbal, the other non-verbal, in the process of reading. The importance of visual images has been proved in the studies. The teaching of reading can benefit from Dual Coding Theory.
