| 摘 要： | 奥尼尔在戏剧形式上进行了大胆的革新和创造,尤其对表现主义的尝试极为成功。奥尼尔在《毛猿》中运用表现主义手法。采用合唱、独白、假面具、象征、怪诞人物形象等表现主义手段来揭示人物的内心思想感情,反映了现代社会里劳动者失去归属、找不到出路的迷惘和痛苦。

| Abstract: | O＇Neill made daring innovation and creation,especially his attempt of expressionism was very successful.This paper studies specially the characteristics of expressionism that O＇Neill used in The Hairy Ape.The play adopts the ways of expressionism such as chorus、monologue、false face、 symbol、weird image of persons and so on to reveal the inner thoughts and feelings of characters.It reflects the confusion and pain of the laborer who lost belonging and couldn＇t find his own way out in modern society. |
