探索激发研究生自主学习英语的选修课新模式

摘    要:研究生教育的深入改革要求英语教学与时俱进。在教学中激发学生自主学习的潜能对研究生来说意义尤为重大。用专题讨论会的形式激发学习自主性的教学实践经实践证明是一个深受学生欢迎,效果显著的教学方法。调查结果显示当前学生有强烈的提高口语能力的要求,希望教师能够提供练习机会。在新模式中,教师的作用由教授知识转变为创造氛围,鼓励引导,在学生需要时提供帮助。

Abstract:Graduate education is undergoing an in-depth reform. To keep up with the trend, the teaching of English calls for new approaches to satisfy the needs of students. As adult learners, graduate students have the ability to manage their own learning process. In most English classes, however, learning is still controlled by the teacher and the textbook, leaving little room for student autonomy. This paper reports a new teaching approach to oral English class. To prepare a simulated penal discussion, students make decision on the topic, materiel and form of class activities. Given control in their own learning, students are highly motivated. The results include active student participation, a positive feeling toward the class and significant improvement in speaking skills. The paper also discusses students' needs in academic communication and the role of teacher in the new method.
