| Abstract: | Humboldt's ideal of a university is one with free academic atmosphere and an integration of teaching and scientific research. Guided with this ideal, Berlin University, which was called a modern university, was established in Germany. Research universities, represented by Berlin University, facilitated the prosperity of Germany and helped realize the modernization of German mode of university. |
