Abstract:The isokinetic strength, aerobic and anaerobic capacity, some physiological and biochemical characteristics before and after loading in the upper and lower limbs of elite Tae Kwon Do athletes were systematically studied, compared with those of the elite boxers and track and field athletes. The results indicated thatTae Kwon Do athletes had to establish a new concept on the basis of routine training, namely paying much attention to the training of the rapid--reaction and explosive force in their musculi vastus posterior, which was ofmore importance for middle and low level athletes. The results also indicated that their serum testosterone levelat rest was relatively high and their LDH activity maintained a high level within 10 minutes after exercise. The LDH3.4.5 level was high at rest and the LDH4.5activity increased after exercise. It was pointed out thatTae Kwon Do athletes should not only have very good anaerobic functions but also have relatively high aerobiccapacity. There is a causality between the elite Tae Kwon Do athletes' performance and their serum cortisol, cholesterol and testosterone etc., which suggests that attention should be paid to the application of those correlative indexes in the identification of Tae Kwon Do athletes' talents and in their training.
