| 摘 要： | 词的象征意义是其概念意义的延伸.不同民族语言受不同文化背景的影响,其词语在象征意义上有不同表现.英语和汉语在人名、地名、动植物、颜色和数字等词汇的象征意义上各有异同.英汉词语的象征意义存在基本一致、表达相异、此有彼无和相互冲突四种关系.作为对比语言学的范畴,象征意义的比较在跨文化交际中具有重大意义.

| Abstract: | Symbolic connotation is the extension of denotative meaning. People in the world live in different geographic areas and cultural atmospheres. Through long history,those elements interact with each other and filter into the languages. Thus many things and phenomena are endowed with symbolic meanings,which have various manifestations in names of human beings and places,animals,plants,colors and even numerals. This article probes into the differences and similarities between Chinese and English words in their symbolic connotations.It presents four relationships:correspondence,different expressions for the same meaning,zero and conflict. |
