| 摘 要： | Translation is a subject which needs to draw on findings and theories of other related subjects in order to develop andformalize its own methods. Stylistics is a borderline subject which has a great deal to offer to the translation studies. Since a lotof problems emerging in literary translation can be effectively solved by stylistic analysis, the present paper discusses tbe role ofstylistics in literary translation in deciding on methods of translation: literal translation or free translation and overcoming diffi-culties in translating poems.
