| Abstract: | The spirit of the Beat Generation is not as simple as the words reveal. The paper trys to probe into the essence of the spirit of the Beat Generation from three aspects: the social and cultural background; the source of their spirit and thought; the tradition of American literature. So the positive elements of the Beat Generation, such as opposing tradition and system, seeking oneself and freedom, are manifested. |
