| Abstract: | Harrison Narcotics Act of 1914 is the first Federal drug legislation of the U.S.,and a milestone in the American drug control history as well.The enactment and enforcement of this act is of far reaching significance to the drug policies as well as drug problems of the American society thereafter.This very paper reviews,from a historical perspective,the background,causes,contents and consequences or effects of the Harrison Act,attempting to make on objective assessment of the above elements.Thus some deep insights and understanding of the present American drug issues and policies can be obtained. |
