| Abstract: | This paper makes a comprehensive and developmental analysis of conjunctions and their usage in the poems(a total of 481)and folk songs(a total of 117)mainly of the Han Dynasty,the State of Wei and the Six Dynasties as well as the Sui Dynasty. The result of the analysis is a conclusion that the said conjunctions,according to their meanings and grammatical functions,can serve the following seven types purposes:continuance,transition,presumption,concession,cause and result,and word-repetition. |
