| Abstract: | The theories of the compiling of land resources maps are expounded from th-ree aspects; the fundamentals of map compiling, the basic principles of land ass-essment, and the bases of map compiling. By combining the system of land reso-urces assessment and the system of land resources types, land resources classifica-tion system, a 5-grade classification system, is put forward: using systematic me- asures, land resources are classified as potentiality area of land, suitability classes of land, quality grades of land, restriction types of land, and units of land reso-urces. The prospective using field of land resources maps of different scales, the grades and contents of classification system are also briefly presented. As for co-mpiling metheds, first, it is established that compiling units comeing from the combing of types and restriction factors of land resources are of crucial importan-ce in multiple-factor map compiling; second, some problems conconcerning basic methods and standardization of map compiling are expounded further; finally, the founding of statistical system and data base of land resources is recommended. |
