| Abstract: | Metaphor is more a way of thinking than a kind of figures of speech from the perspective of cognition.This paper attempts at an analysis of the cognitive characteristics in both the Chinese and English languages by comparing the metaphorical meanings of Chinese and English animal terms.Cultural factors that affects greatly on these characteristics are also analyzed to provide important implications for intercultural communication. |
