质疑学生用英语思维能力的培养

摘    要:培养学生用英语思维的能力已成为中小学英语教学界进行教学改革的重要思路,但这种思路是建立在对教学大纲及相关理论文章的错误理解基础上的。思维先于语言,并且由思维做出语言选择,因此能够培养的并非英语思维的能力,而是跨文化意识,以此来解决在英语学习中思维方式不同所带来的困难。对教学改革的这种错误认识既已形成,因此迫切需要重新认识其实质。

Abstract:The idea of cultivating students' competence of thinking in English has been widely accepted among middle schools and elementary schools as a measure of English teaching reform.This idea is based on a false inference drawn from the notions of cultivating students' minds in the New English Curriculums and the related documents.Thinking is prior to language,and it selects automatically a language for expression.Thus to cultivate students' competence of thinking in English is infeasible.The difficulties of English Learning aroused by different ways of thinking between English speakers and Chinese speakers may be overcome by raising culture awareness among students.The reflections on cultivating students' competence of thinking in English are vital to English teaching reform,as this notion has already been part of teachers' conception on English teaching reform.
