| Abstract: | Verb argument structure refers to the possible syntactic structures that a verb can construct.The argument structure information of verb was manipulated to study its influence on the processing of Chinese sentences.Experiment one adopted the moving window technique and it was found out that there was significant difference in the reading time of critical areas under different argument structure bias conditions.Experiment two adopted the priming technique and controlled the semantic fit between the noun phrase and verb phrase.The results of Experiment one was confirmed.The findings indicated that the argument structure information of verb immediately participated in the processing of Chinese sentences once it was accessed and the frequency of argument structure information played a vital role in this process. |
