| Abstract: | Now confronting us is the central task of rallying the people of the entire nation and mobilizing all positive factors in a concerted effort to achieve the four modernizations. Promoting the undertaking of peasant education and raising the peasants' cultural and scientific level are major objectives of the effort to raise the scientific and cultural level of the entire Chinese nation and also prerequisites for the realization of the four modernizations. Peasants are the great majority of our population. Without raising the scientific and cultural level of the peasants, raising the scientific and cultural level of the entire Chinese nation would be out of the question. Agriculture is the foundation of national economy. Without raising the scientific and cultural level of the peasants, it would be impossible to achieve either the modernization of agriculture or the modernization of the entire national economy. |
