| 摘 要： | 对费正清中国研究包括其儒学研究的学术影响来看,费氏1932-1935年的中国经历起着最为重要的作用。在此期间,他掌握了汉语、收集了很多中国研究的一手资料并坚定了他对中国研究的学术方向;尤为重要的是他结识了当时的中国自由主义知识分子。中国的自由主义知识分子有着海外的经历和本族文化背景以及儒学文化的深厚底蕴,费氏本人对中国文化有着无限的向往。因此二者在交流上不仅没有语言障碍,就中国的文化历史以及现状也都有着共同话题。鉴于二者的特殊关系,以二者对儒学的基本看法为视角从三个方面,即儒学在中国文化中的地位、儒学在近代中国现代化进程中的作用以及二者对儒学认识的局限性进行比较,进一步了解费氏的儒学观。

| Abstract: | John King Fairbank has contacted and then established long - term friendship with Chinese scholars like Hu Shi, Liang Sicheng and so on during 1931 - 1935. In communications of both sides, they have found common senses in ideas about Chinese traditional culture with Confucianism as representative. This paper is designed to compare ideas about Confucianism between John King Fairbank and those Chinese scholars in 1930s from three aspects： the role Confucianism played in traditional Chinese culture; the function Confu- cianism had in the modernization of contemporary China and the limitations of their ideas about Confucianism. Based on the comparison, a new perspective of studying John King Fairbank＇s ideas about Confucianism is expected to provide. |
