| Abstract: | Economy is a most important factor that affects the development of a language. The thesis,from linguistic angle, discusses the tendency of the development of languages during different economic periods. The paper also expounds that the development of economy exerts an influence on the formation of the leading place of English,and that British English gives up its leading place to American English as a result of the changing of the economic position between Britain and America. |
