| Abstract: | News headlines are seen as abbreviated forms of news reports to introduce and highlight news. Through them the reader can obtain the essence of news in the shortest time possible. However, English learners sometimes have difficulty understanding English news headlines. This paper analyzes lexical characteristics of English news headlines to be helpful to the English news readers as well as writers and editors. |
