| Abstract: | Zeng Guofang was an outstanding strategist in China's modern history. The army of Hunan founded by him “set up a new banner and started a thorough reform”. He carried out a reform in the military system of the Qing Dynasty and put forward the feudal-ethical-code-centred principle for directing the troops and the strategy and tactics of mating changes according to different situations and different time, which has a dialectal factor in it. Zeng Guofang's military thinking and the military reform he carried out have an important position in and a far-reaching impact upon China's modern history. |
