| Abstract: | With the analysis of Greek mythical hero Oedipus,we try to investigate the Greek tragedy of fate in the novel The Mayor of Casterbridge and compare the outlook of fate in the ancient Greek time with the outlook of fate in Hardy's naturalist time in order to draw out the Greek characteristics of the character created by Hardy and the difference between Hardy's view of fate and the Greek view of fate. |
