Abstract:A new algurithm fur hidden surface reniuval called FMSX (first marksecund X)algorithm is presented.It cunsists uf two parts,FM &. SX. FM combinesthe key ideas uf Z-buffer and painter's algurithm and intruduces FN-buffer whichaviods depth evaluation and requires less sturage.A technique called CP-table hasoeen used tu make the algurithm very fast and robust.SX makes use of FN-buffer toextend into many fields uf realistic imase synthesis,such as shading,texture map-ping,ray tracing,shaduwing and transparency generating- computational efficiencyis also improved.
