| 摘 要： | 斯坦贝克的短篇小说《菊》的主题具有多重性与复杂性,这与小说的第三人称的戏剧式叙事视角不无关系。戏剧式的叙事视角下的小说要求读者积极参与,来探索合理的主题阐释。通过分析主人公艾丽莎精神追求层面的受挫经历,短篇小说《菊》旨在反映当时社会女性的精神追求完全被忽略甚至被反对的悲剧现实,更进一步揭示了人类精神层面追求的危机。

| Abstract: | The theme of John Steinbeck＇s The chrysanthemum bears its ambiguity and appeal for readers to explore further,which is closely related to its dramatic narrative mode,one that calls for readers＇ active participation to seek more reasonable interpretations.The theme of this short story aims at revealing a tragic fact that female＇s spiritual pursuits are totally ignored even objected by the surrounding world,and this also reflects the deep crisis of isolation and commitment existed in the human being＇s spiritual state. |
