| Abstract: | Slang has existed since humans have language. Modern American slang is a kind of special language form, with unique language expression playing an important role in daily communication and study. In this paper, we will discuss the development and characteristics of American slang from the formation of American English, language characteristics, rhetorical characteristics and pragmatic functions these four aspects. |
