| Abstract: | With an empirical study of college English teaching as a corpus,this paper makes a detailed investigation into the linguistic realization of hedges,their pragmatic functions and effects in classroom teaching.This study sheds light on how English teachers use hedges to achieve their communicative goals in classroom teaching,and contributes to a better application of hedging devices to teach effectively. |
