| 摘 要： | 《红楼梦》是古典文学史上的一株奇葩,其两个英译本（杨宪益译本和大卫.霍克斯译本）同样也是译坛的经典之作,曾被众多的翻译家和翻译爱好者欣赏和点评。笔者从形合与意合的研究角度出发,探讨了《红楼梦》的翻译艺术,并通过《红楼梦》英译本的比较,分析了形合与意合机制产生的内在动因。论文认为,英语重形合、汉语重意合的特点体现在《红楼梦》的翻译过程中,并为译者提供了阐释空间。

| Abstract: | Hong Lou Meng has been regarded as one of the greatest classics of ancient Chinese literature and the two of its translations,respectively done by Yang Xianyi and David Hawkes,enjoy the same reputation in the field of translation. This paper,based on the research in hypotaxis and parataxis,explores the techniques in translating Hong Lou Meng,and through the comparison between the two translations,analyzes the internal causes of hypotactic prominence in English and paratactic prominence in Chinese. It is found that this feature,embodied in the translation of Hong Lou Meng,allows the translators the space for interpretation,which contributes to the different English versions of the novel. |
