| 摘 要： | 汉语句子在作元语否定解读时往往受到制约,大多数要用"不是"。以往从句法上对其制约作出的探讨,忽视了元语否定中的焦点,无法得到令人满意的解释,因而必须从语义和语用层面加以分析。汉语"不"字否定句并非都不能进行元语否定解读。只有当焦点没有标记标示,紧跟在否定载体"不"之后,并且体现出级差性的时候,元语否定解读才会受到制约。其原因是此类焦点邻接"不"之后,在语义上具有完整性,因而焦点无法得到突显,并且焦点被否定后的语义特征也会阻止二次解读,从而导致元语否定解读失败。

| Abstract: | Chinese differs English strikingly with respect to metalinguistic negation,in that simple negated sentences in English freely allow metalinguistic readings of the negation while counterpart sentences in Chinese do not.We explored the restrictions on metalinguistic reading in Chinese negation from syntactic,semantic as well as pragmatic aspect,and found that the simple negation in Chinese with "bu" as the negative operator is not unfit for metalinguistic reading,for it won't be prohibited unless the focus in metalinguistic negation satisfies the following conditions: the focus has no means to mark itself,it follows the negative operator "bu",and it has scalar value.The failure of metalinguistic reading results from the fact that the semantic property of the negated focus prohibits the reanalysis of metalinguistic negation,and the integration of the negative operator to the focus in meaning,on the other hand,constrains the profile of the focus. |
