| 摘 要： | 中国小说之义界与西方有别。“小说”的范畴,就名源言,其名确立于向、歆父子,汉人之论并为后人所宗;就史家之观点言,自汉晋迄清,皆以班《志》为依归;就小说本身发展言,可分为四个阶段,代有演变。而今日“小说”范畴则有语言、形式、内容、功用诸要素之限定。

| Abstract: | As far as category is concerned, etymologically, the term "fiction" is established by Liu Xiang andliu Xin, father and son from the Han Dynasty, whose argument is fathered by generations of scholare, to come. Asfor as historians are concerned, they, from the Han and Jin dynasties up to the Qing Dynasty, all trace their view-points back to Ban Gu's "Annals. As far as the development of fiction itself is concerned, four stages can be di-vided, each with its own evo1utions. And a modern category of "fiction" is defined by such elements as the lan-guage,form content, and function. |
