| Abstract: | Euphemism is not only a common phenomenon in various human languages, but also a cultural phenomenon. It plays a very important role in human social communication. This essay expounds the social functions in sociolinguistic perspective from the aspects of the relations between euphemism and society, euphemism and religion, euphemism and interpersonal conversation, and especially euphemism and social communication. |
