| Abstract: | This paper looks back on the development of English metaphor studies,makes use of Richards' and Black's Interaction Theory and Sperber & Wilson's Relevance Theory to probe into the approaches to understand English metaphor and its operation mechanism.It regards metaphor as a kind of pragmatic phenomenon and views the translation of English and Chinese metaphor in the perspective of pragmatic,linguistic equivalent translation and communicative,pragmatic equivalent translation. |
