| 摘 要： | 严复是近代对国民素质及其教育始终予以最深切关注的启蒙思想家.他从政治素质、道德素质、知识素质、思维素质、心理素质等五个方面对中西国民进行了比较研究,并探析了造成差异的原因.他力图通过这种研究,建立现代国民素质的基本模式,定位改造国民性的目标系统,探究国民由传统人向现代人转变的途径.这一研究至今仍具有重要的价值和启示意义.
