A Comparative Study of Jane Eyre and Bosha Meisen
Authors:WANG Wen-hui  XIANG Jun-ping
Abstract:In her masterpiece Jane Eyre,Charlotte Bronte,a female novelist in the 19th-century Britain, delineated two female protagonists of diverse character and destiny:Jane Eyre and Bosha Meison. While Jane Eyre was in pursuit of independence and self-realization,she could not go beyond the control of man-dominated discourse and became an "angel in the family" whereas Bosha Meison dared to challenge the man-dominated discourse and endeavored to pursue equality with males, but she could not avoid being persecuted by the male power and virtually lost her life. The rebellion and helplessness of Jane Eyre and Bosha Meison is the fate shared by all females, for they cannot avoid inequality and the condition of being "inferior" to males.
Keywords:"the angel in the family"  the other  self
