| 摘 要： | 尤金·奈达把他的"对等"原则细分为"形式对等"和"功能对等".以奈达的理论解读"Meeting at Night"的汉译可以看出,只重视形式而忽视功能,"形似而神不似",是不可取的.诗歌翻译中的"对等"并非亦步亦趋,形式对等应以功能对等为前提,形式对等和功能对等并存时方可产生优秀译文.

| Abstract: | Eugene Nida divides his theory of equivalence into the formal and the functional.This article compares the two translations of Meeting at Night by Robert Browning,concludes that it is not ideal for translators to prefer the form to the function.Nor is equivalence in the poetic translation a slavish imitation.Functional equivalence is a prerequisite of formal equivalence.Only from the two combined can the desirable translations result. |
