| 摘 要： | 习语是语言的精华，英语习语丰富多样的文化内涵导致了习语在实际应用中扮演着多样性的“角色”或多元的语言功能。本文从韩礼德的三大语言功能出发，探讨英语习语的概念功能，人际功能，语篇功能，文化传承功能，隐喻认知功能和语用功能，旨在帮助英语学习者真正理解和掌握英语习语的本质特征及其使用中的多样性和灵活性，提高语用能力，在语言学习中有效、得体、恰当地运用英语习语。

| Abstract: | Idioms is the essence of language. English idioms with their rich cultural connotations render themselves various ro1es or multi-functions in usage. This paper, based on Halliday's three metafunctions, explores the ideational, interpersonal, textual, cultural, metaphorical cognitive and pragmatic functions of English idioms, aiming to help English learners grasp their basic traits as well as their diversity and flexibility in usage. |
