| Abstract: | Although ci was flourishing in Song dynasties, quite a number of scholars showed contempt towards it. They regarded ci as the word games of men of letters, calling it "Xiao ci"-petty ci. At the same time, they cherished a contradictory attitude towards it, measuring it with poetic standards. |
