| Abstract: | Language reflects culture, and culture is expressed through language. They act upon and influence each other. The cultural background knowledge plays an important role in the reading. There are three approaches to the cultural background knowledge teaching in class: (1) explan ation and introduction, (2) out-of-class consulting and in-the-class discussion, (3) comparison of the Chinese and western culture. |
