Abstract: | Summaries English Despite their presence in the majority of school biology departments, aquaria are underused and underexploited. In this paper, possible reasons for this are examined, some uses are mentioned, relevant literature is cited and some ‘corrective’ measures are suggested. The treatment is not intended to be exhaustive; rather, it is hoped that the arguments and examples presented will serve as a stimulus to educators to explore the potential of ‘Aquarium Biology’ in relation to their own personal teaching programmes. |
