| Abstract: | Chen Xujing was a representative of "wholesale westernization" in the 20th century history of Chinese thinking.Chen took western culture as the universal criterion for the cultural development of various nations and the wholesale westernization as the only mode of modernization.He used the simplistic dualistic opposition or the way of thinking of taking either this or that to measure and consider complex cultural problems like Chinese and western cultures,and traditions and modernization.In either theory or practice,Chen was biased,partial and one-sided. |
