| Abstract: | The nature of metaphor is not only a matter of language,but also a matter of mind and a way of thinking and cognition. Metaphor,as a kind of common language phenomenon,reflects different cultural models used in different languages,therefore,there exist word meaning gaps on metaphor generation and understanding between Chinese and English. This paper will have a discussion on the word meaning gaps and bring forward metaphor translation strategies. |
