| Abstract: | The admission procedures for identifying and selecting students in special residential schools of mathematics and science in the United States were studied through interviews with school officials and examination of the schools’ literature on admissions. The selection criteria included tests of verbal and mathematical aptitudes, home school grade‐point averages, ratings of behavioral characteristics, and interviews. The selection stages included recruitment, application file development, file reviews, interviews, and selection decision making. |
