| 摘 要： | 名称是指称概念的语言符号 ,其意义受到历史与文化的强力影响。在对外传播中 ,重要名称的外文翻译往往会影响民族形象与国家地位。本研究分析了中国共产党 80多年历程中角色的变化和她在中国现行政治社会结构中的地位 ,并配合以田野控制试验的实证研究。在此基础上 ,作者指出 ,中国共产党的英文译名ChineseCom munistParty在美国公众心目中所代表的形象与中国共产党的实际角色相去甚远。文章提出以信息翻译取代词字翻译 ,并建议用ChineseCouncilofLeaders(CCL)作为“中国共产党”的英文译名

| Abstract: | A Name is a symbol, whose meaning is strongly influenced by history and culture?In international communication,translation of names of the key institutions may affect national image and international relations. This study includes an analysis of the history and current status of Zhongguo Gongchang Dang, traditionally translated as the Chinese Communist Party. The analysis is coupled with a field experiment. Based on these, the author argues that, in the minds of typical Americans, the English term" Chinese Communist Party"signifies a concept and image that have little overlap with what were in the minds of typical Chinese when they speak of Zhongguo Gongchan Dang?Arguing that the translated term should strive to match the original term in meaning but not necessarily in words and characters, the author suggests that "Chinese Council of Leaders(CCL)"should replace "Chinese Communist Party". |
