| 摘 要： | 监狱是《双城记》里的一个重要主题，不管是有形的还是无形的。主人公在监狱里饱受着肉体T精神上的折磨。监狱对故事情节的发展也起着非常重要的作用。列出了下列监狱，有形的：巴士底狱，拉福斯，台尔森银行——巴士底狱的翻版。无形的：曼内特的精神监狱；德伐日夫人的复仇监狱；法国人民的生活监狱；达尔内的守愿监狱；卡尔顿的情感监狱。浅探了上述监狱对故事情节的发展所起的伏笔作用，各种监狱都为后来故事情节的发展铺平了道路。

| Abstract: | Prisons, visible or invisible, are an important theme in A Tale of Two Cities. Main characters in the novel are tortured physically or mentally in their own prisons. Prisons also play an important role in the development of plot. In this thesis, the following prisons are introduced. The Bastille, La Force and Tellson＇s prison alike Bank are visible prisons. Dr Manette is in a mental prison; Madame Defarge is in a revenge jail; the French people are in a social and economic institution; Charles Darnay is in a prison of keeping her mother＇s last wish; Sydney Carton is in an emotional jail. They are all in invisible prisons of their own. In the thesis there are also some comments about the si to the development of plot. The prisons mentioned carry foreshadowing of t can also be said that they pave the way for what is to follow later on in the gnificance of the prisons above he development of plot, and it story. |
