| 摘 要： | 湖州，楚名菰城，秦名乌程，三国名吴兴，至隋始名湖州。太湖自古襟带四州，唯湖州是以滨太湖而命名的城市。“江表大郡，吴兴第一”、“其冠簪之盛，汉唐以来敌天下三分之一”。千年变革，时事沧桑，中心城区仍是不规则的六棱形，古城格局仍清晰可辨，山川I精灵犹存，人文古迹未泯。

| Abstract: | Huzhou is a city, which was called Gucheng in the period of Chu, Wucheng in Qing, Wuxing in the end of Han, and Huzhou from the beginning of Sui. The Taihu Lake has been related to the four cities with “zhou” since the ancient times, but only Huzhou was named af ter the Taihu Lake. “Of Jiangdong areas, Wuxing was the most powerful”. Because of its prosperity, it had been richer and more powerful than a third of the country since Han and Tang Dynasty. Through all its changes and vicissitudes of thousands of years, the city centre still remains its irregular hexagon, and the pattern of the ancient city appears legible. The mountains and rivers in it are beautiful and attractive, and its culture and historical sites are not vanished. |
